3D geological model for hydrogeological applications: the MontiCimini area

The examined area (370km2 wide) is located in the Cimini Volcanic District (Northern Lazio).
The purpose of the study ( tesi di stage APAT) was to create a three dimensional geological model based on surface (geological map) and subsurface data (well stratigraphies) collected in the L. 464/84 database.

Stratigraphic description of each well was standardized according to a hierarchical procedure based on the Rock Classification Scheme of British Geological Survey; this stage of the work enabled the identification of homogeneous rock bodies and the reconstruction of the main hydrogeological complexes.

First the boundary surfaces between the hydrogeological complexes was built, second the volume for each complex was modeled and calculated.
