ISPRA has published “Educate, Communicate, Connect – The educational format of the LIFE SIC2SIC project,” which retraces an environmental education experience carried out in 48 schools involving more than 4,200 students.

Recent decades have been characterized by unprecedented positive temperature anomalies at the global, European, and national scales. In addition to a significant rise in average temperatures, there is clear evidence of an increase in the frequency, duration, and intensity of extreme events. Urban environments exhibit heightened vulnerability to climate-change impacts owing to their high population density, complex built infrastructure and concentration of socio‑economic activities, which collectively amplify exposure and sensitivity to thermal stress, hydrometeorological extremes, and related cascading risks.

The document presents Italy’s official reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals, submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement. This document is also submitted to the European Union in accordance with the “Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action” Regulation.

The "Report on ISPRA's technical and scientific support activities to the IPPC Commissionof the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security for the technical documents to state-owned industrial plants (AIA)" represents ISPRA's account of the technical documents for the issuance of state-owned Integrated Environmental Authorizations (AIA).

Environment in Italy: An Overview, 2025 Environmental Data Yearbook is a statistical report that provides an up-to-date and scientifically grounded overview of the state of the environment in Italy. The document uses more than 300 indicators included in the ISPRA Environmental Indicators Database to provide official information for policy makers, administrators, technical experts, and citizens.

The report describes the estimate of atmospheric emissions that Italy officially reports in accordance with the UN Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CRLTAP/UNECE) and the related Protocols for the reduction of emissions of these substances.

The report presents an assessment of the qualitative and quantitative status of water bodies in Italy, based on data from WISE reporting to the European Commission (EC) concerning the River Basin Management Plans of the third implementation cycle of the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC. The data were collected with the contribution of River Basin Authorities, Regions, and Regional (ARPA) and Provincial (APPA) Environmental Protection Agencies.

This report presents data relating to sulfur content of heavy fuel oil, diesel fuel, and marine fuels used in Italy in 2024, as required by national legislation (article 298, paragraph 2-bis of Legislative Decree 152/2006).The amounts of different type of fuel examined in this report were determined on the basis of data from operators and inspection authorities. The results of ispection on sulphur content of marine fuels used on board in national territorial seas and sulphur content of fuels in storage facility are also reported.

The 2024 edition of the Report on Hydrogeological Instability in Italy, the fourth dedicated to this topic, updates the national landslide hazard map of the Hydrogeological Planning Plans (PAI), created by ISPRA through the harmonization and mosaicking of the areas defined by the District Basin Authorities, and the risk indicators.

Data that make the difference: synergies and standard monitoring protocols for the management of protected areas

The manual presents the national screening model and the associated application software ROCKS, developed to support public administration in planning investigations and remediation interventions at potentially contaminated, publicly owned, and/or orphan sites

The booklet has a dual purpose: To inform citizens about the two topics of climate change and public participation, following a technical and sociological approach to risk. To promote participatory processes in urban areas, in order to share local knowledge and give all citizens the opportunity to co-design and co-manage policies and interventions at the local level.

This report is drawn up following the design and implementation work, by the VAL-RTEC-IPPC Section of ISPRA, of a georeferenced database of installations subject to Integrated Environmental Authorizations (AIA) of State and Regional competence, of potential utility and support to various services of the VAL department in environmental assessments and controls, inspections and usable by third-party users.

The Guidelines represent a technical and methodological reference tool for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) preparers and enable well-structured EIAs, resulting in a faster evaluation phase: complete EIAs require fewer integration requests, fewer environmental conditions, and therefore, faster environmental permitting processes.

This Report presents and systematizes the results of the survey and analytical work undertaken to define the current state of the art regarding the implementation of Ecological Networks within the planning instruments and regulatory frameworks of the Italian Regions and Autonomous Provinces.

The Urban Waste Report, now in its twenty-seventh edition, with data updated to 2024 on the production, separate waste collection, management, and import/export flows of urban waste and packaging at the national, regional, and provincial levels, was developed by ISPRA's National Waste and Circular Economy Center, with the contribution of local environmental agencies. It offers a comprehensive and objective framework to support legislators in guiding policies and interventions, monitoring their effectiveness, and introducing any corrective measures.
