Piccini / Qualità dell’ambiente urbano – XI Rapporto (2015)

ISPRA Stato dell’Ambiente 63/15 pagg. 382-397

Abstract

Forest fires are a serious threat for soil conservation, biodiversity protection,

landscape safeguard and, more in general, for environment in the whole. Their

impacts can be relevant not only in natural areas, but also in cities’ territories.

For this reason the chapter considers this problem reporting 2009-2013 data on

forest fires occurring in the territory of the 85 Municipalities of the Report.

Data are reported through 5 indicators:

- number of forest fires;

- burned areas (total, wooded, non wooded and average).

In the database linked to the Report a wider historical series (2000-2013) is

available.
