Within the framework of the European PNRR IRIDE space program, the European Space Agency (ESA) issued a project call for the definition and implementation of training programs aimed at Administrators, Employees, and GIS technicians of certain Italian Local Administrations participating in the initiative.
The project proposal IRIDELab – EO-PNRR-IRIDE-Project: TRAINING FOR THE LOCAL PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS PNRR CUP J58G21000010007, submitted by GMatics (lead partner), ReMedia, University of Rome Tor Vergata, National Research Council (CNR) IMAA, and ISPRA, was selected as the winner of the aforementioned call. Subsequently, a contract was signed between ESA and GMATICS Srl, which, as the Project’s responsible Beneficiary, entered into a subcontract with ISPRA, definitively signed in May 2025.
The purpose of the project is to promote knowledge within Local Administrations on the use of Earth observation data for territorial management. Specifically, ISPRA will conduct training activities on the use of GIS applications for the analysis and processing of remote sensing data and for territorial monitoring. The training will be provided to the following Administrations: Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region; Valle D’Aosta Region; Marche Region; Campania Region; Veneto Region; Umbria Region; Lombardy Region; Northern Apennines District Basin Authority; Metropolitan Area of Milan; Municipality of Rome; Municipality of Milan; Municipality of San Giuliano Terme; Municipality of Bari; Municipality of Bollate.
The completion deadline is May 2026.
