The European Commission has launched a new regional programme about water “Sustainable Water Integrated Management” (SWIM), under the cross border cooperation (ENPI) rules. The general aim of SWIM is to encourage the spreading of policies and practices of water sustainable management in the region, due to an increasing water scarcity context. The programme will develop consensus and cooperation among countries having common water interests. The priorities of SWIM are the following: 1. Improve integrated water management; 2. Adaptation climate change and improve water scarcity and drought; 3. Encourage management water demand, efficient water use and non conventional water resources and protect water quality and biodiversity; 4. Optimize water funding, focusing on innovative processes; 5. Sustain Horizon 2020 in depolluting Mediterranean.
