RAMOGEPOL 2026
RAMOGEPOL 2026, the international exercise conducted under the Operational Plan of the RAMOGE Agreement, successfully concluded in Monaco. Held from 22 to 26 June, the exercise brought together Italy, France, and the Principality of Monaco in a comprehensive programme of operational, technical, and institutional activities dedicated to preventing and responding to accidental marine pollution incidents.
The 2026 edition was particularly significant as it formed part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the RAMOGE Agreement, one of the most important international cooperation frameworks for the protection of the north-western Mediterranean. Established in 1976 through the vision of Prince Rainier III of Monaco, the Agreement created a permanent system of cooperation between Italy, France, and the Principality of Monaco to safeguard the marine environment.
The exercise simulated a maritime emergency involving an accidental pollution event, with ships, aircraft, drones, and satellite monitoring systems deployed to test the coordination and response capabilities of the three participating countries.
On board the Diciotti, a vessel of the Italian Coast Guard (Corps of the Harbour Master's Offices – Coast Guard), ISPRA experts provided technical and scientific support to the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) during operations to combat oil spills and other hazardous substance releases.
