IPBES publishes a report on the links between business and biodiversity

On the occasion of the 12th plenary meeting of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, held in Manchester from 2 to 8 February 2026, the global methodological report Business and Biodiversity: Methodological Assessment of the Impact and Dependency of Business on Biodiversity and Nature’s Contributions to People” was adopted. On the same occasion, the plenary also approved the Summary for Policymakers of the report.

The chapters of the report, the SPM, and other supporting materials are under embargo until 2:00 p.m. (Italian time) on 9 February 2026 and will subsequently be available for download on the official assessment website (https://www.ipbes.net/business-impact).

A live webcast is also planned and will be accessible via the IPBES website to follow the presentation of the results.

Supporting materials include the Business & Biodiversity Assessment Primer, available in 12 languages, and the press release related to the 12th IPBES plenary meeting.

Accredited participants will receive embargoed press materials ahead of the official launch and will have access to a dedicated (90-minute) call during the press conference, with the opportunity to ask questions directly to the report co-chairs, the IPBES Chair, and the Executive Secretary. Media outlets may also subscribe to the IPBES Media Mailing List to receive invitations.
