Prenestini Bioblitz – Mapping the Biodiversity of the Monte Guadagnolo SAC
As part of the initiative “25 Years Together for Biodiversity” promoted by the Museo Civico Naturalistico dei Monti Prenestini on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its activities, the bioblitz “Discovering the Biodiversity of the Monti Prenestini” will begin on June 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude at 6:00 p.m. on the following day.

This is a 24-hour event entirely dedicated to the exploration and participatory mapping of the biodiversity of the Monti Prenestini. Participants will be able to take part in several observation sessions, both daytime (insects, plants, birds, lichens) and nighttime (bats, insects, and birds of prey), with the support of experts who will guide the identification activities and the census of as many species as possible within the Monte Guadagnolo Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
The bioblitz is organized in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Network and involves researchers from ISPRA and CREA. ISPRA’s participation is part of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service – National Collaboration Programme Italy, launched to promote knowledge and use of CLMS products at national and local level.
The bioblitz activities will be preceded by the scientific conference “Biodiversity and Cultural Landscape: Knowledge and Coexistence in Inhabited Mountain Areas,” taking place on June 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the Museo Civico Naturalistico dei Monti Prenestini (Capranica Prenestina, Via Aristide Frezza 6).
Participation in both activities is free of charge.
