The Week is promoted by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, coordinated by the IDIS-Città della Scienza Foundation of Naples and the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. The event’s program includes one-to-one meetings between Italian and Chinese institutions aimed at facilitating networking and matchmaking activities.

The participation of ISPRA experts in the 14th edition of the China-Italy Week also coincides with the first scientific mission to China within the framework of the first Project Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding between ISPRA and the China Geological Survey (2022–2027), signed in Naples during the previous edition in the presence of the Ministers of Research and Science of both countries. The objective of the one-to-one meetings is also to lay the groundwork for new collaboration on the characterization and monitoring of geological hazards that threaten cultural heritage in both China and Italy.

ISPRA’s presence is also part of its decade-long collaboration with Zhejiang Ocean University, with which the Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (2022–2027) and established the Sino-Italian Joint Laboratory of Functional Biology of Marine Biota. The event provides an opportunity to further explore topics already developed within this collaboration, present the Interreg Italy-France Maritime AQuabios project for organic and sustainable aquaculture, and discuss new objectives related to toxicogenomics and the functional biology of marine organisms affected by anthropogenic impacts and climate change.
