ISPRA launches the Network for the study of Mycological Diversity

The Department for the monitoring and protection of the environment and for the conservation of biodiversity of ISPRA has launched the Network for the study of Mycological Diversity with the aim of increasing knowledge on mycological biodiversity and using fungi as biological indicators of the state of terrestrial ecosystems.

The Network will be composed of ISPRA and external parties who, through a Citizen Science initiative, will collaborate in the development of the network and in the mapping and census of mycological components on the national territory. The direct collaboration with ISPRA will allow the expert citizen (public and private) to become part of the environmental monitoring system of fungi on the national territory, both by participating in field actions and mycological determination and in the processing and development of scientific knowledge in matter.

The data collected by the network will be included in the ISPRA Mycological Diversity Information System and in the National Biodiversity Network of the Ministry of the Environment.
