Space Day

ISPRA and the Arpa / Appa environmental agencies are committed to reusing the investments spent in space on Earth, thanks to the new tools offered by Copernicus. For twenty years, the EU earth observation program has been one of the pillars of European space policy and guarantees open, free and free data to anyone.
ISPRA and the Copernicus User Forum participate in the first National Space Day, established by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The aim of the initiative is to promote greater awareness of space activities to show how much the services generated by space affect daily life and what returns the sector offers in terms of economic growth, technology and international prestige of the country.

The use of satellite data, combined with other detection systems and in situ observation, as well as the services offered at the European level free of charge, now make it possible to have innovative tools and information available for a uniform and constant monitoring of the atmosphere. , soil, water and all subsystems. An objective that sees the national system for the protection of the environment (of which ISPRA and the regional agencies are part) engaged on a daily basis. Starting from Copernicus data and information and thanks to the coordination of the national User Forum, to which ISPRA offers support, Italy is developing a series of operational services giving clear evidence of how an investment in space creates an economic return on earth.
