The Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea, in partnership with UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO, Secretariat of the Global Alliances for Water and Climate) and Aquamadre, will hold the International Summit "Water and Climate"

The managers and representatives of the most important river basins of the world, coming from all continents, will meet, for the first time in Italy, in order to inspire a meaningful dialogue aiming at facing the future of water, threatened by more and more frequent and violent climate change and its dramatic consequences in terms of floods, drought and degradation of ecosystems

The event is designed as a milestone in the preparation of COP23 (Bonn, 6-17 November 2017) and of the World Water Forum (Brasilia, 18-23 march 2018), two fundamental events that give the occasion to promote the key role of water in the international debate on climate change and in the decisions taken by Governments on the future of our Planet.

The summit will be a unique occasion to match project proposals and financing opportunities and to foster experience sharing between great river basin organizations, local, national and regional administrations in charge of climate change adaptation policies and water resources management, bilateral and multilateral donors and other relevant institutions interested in adaptation to climate change and basin management
