In the last decades, as a results of the climate change, extreme weather and marine events have also intensified in the Sicily Channel, increasingly the need to develop actions to reduce the coastal risk. However, the current data provided by the various networks for surveying the sea state in the channel are not exhaustive of the phenomenon.

The aim of the i-waveNET project, which involves Italy and Malta, is to develop of a cross-border monitoring network based on the integration of different measurement technologies such as: HF radars, seismic and sea level sensors, wave buoys, weather stations.
The partnership, which includes ISPRA, other research bodies, universities and institutions, is presenting the project with a kick-off meeting online on 2 February on the platform ZOOM.
