According to the Kyoto Protocol obligations on global climate change renewable energies should contribute significantly to reduce harmful gas emissions. EU Directive establishes the target of increasing the 1997 6% share of renewables to 12% in 2010.
Expanded renewable energy deployment is one of the key goals of the World Bank.  Onshore renewable energies energy can offer a good percentage of such benefit, that could be significantly increased by  marine (Offshore) renewable energies.
The goal of the seminar is to make a specific and up-to-date review of ongoing activities and programmes in order to exchange information and promote co-operation among European, Mediterranean and other world countries in the promising field of marine energy applications.
