The realization of the geological sheets of the CARG project allows a major upgrade of the scientific knowledge related to an area of the Alps that had a complex and varied geological history until the recent past. They are the consequence of a long process that involved the Office of Geology, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Geological Surveys of the Lombardy Region and the Autonomous Province of Trento, the National Geological Service, the Department of Earth Sciences of 'University of Milan, Padua and the National Research Council in Milan, as well as many geologists.
