CARG on Display

Scientific Results and the Challenge of Completion

A conference aimed at providing regions and communities with geological knowledge of the country

Making geological knowledge a shared asset, accessible to regions and communities—this is the objective of the conference “CARG on Display”

The two-day event will be dedicated to presenting the geological map sheets completed as part of the new phase of the CARG Program, which began in 2020. It serves as an opportunity to showcase the scientific results achieved and to underscore the urgent need to complete the Geological Map of Italy—at a scale of 1:50,000—across the entire national territory.

The round table on November 12, moderated by Prof. Ruggiero Quarto (former Senator of the Italian Republic), will provide an opportunity to discuss the prospects and expectations surrounding the completion of the CARG Program.

Significant attention will be devoted to the academic community—through numerous presentations of the geological map sheets (Fogli) and an afternoon session tailored for university students and doctoral candidates—as well as to the promotion of scientific heritage, featuring a guided tour of the Geological Survey of Italy’s museum collections.
