One Pollution Incident, an Integrated Sea–Coast Response
Meetings on the Management of Level 2 Emergencies
Under an agreement between MASE and ISPRA, a project has been launched to explore the operational synergies between the “MiTE Anti-Pollution Plan” and national and local contingency plans. These plans address response procedures both at sea and along the coastline in the event of accidental pollution caused by oil spills or releases of hazardous and noxious substances (HNS).

It was the 2022 update of the National Plans that laid the foundations for strengthening cooperation between the various institutions involved, also providing for training and preparedness activities for the personnel concerned.
Against this background, a series of three-day meetings is being held (see attached programme). Their aim is to raise awareness among local authorities (Coast Guard, Prefectures, Municipalities, Regional Civil Protection Authorities, Fire and Rescue Services, and ARPA) of their role in managing the response to a Level 2 emergency. The ultimate goal is to foster an integrated sea–coast response through cooperation among all the stakeholders involved, both in the field and at decision-making level, in accordance with the provisions of Local Operational Plans (POL) and higher-level plans.
