Maria Alessandra Gallone, President of ISPRA and the National System for Environmental Protection (SNPA), stated:"The approval of the National Mineral Exploration Programme in 2025 marks Italy’s return, after more than thirty years, to making a strategic investment in the knowledge and assessment of its mineral resources. ISPRA contributes data and expertise that highlight the link between critical minerals and strategic industrial value chains—including batteries, magnets, specialty steels, and ceramics—which are essential to industrial competitiveness. This represents a decisive step toward strengthening the security of raw material supplies, fostering innovation, and reconciling economic development with environmental protection, while offering the country a tangible opportunity for sustainable growth”.
