EXPERIENCE DAYS – Interconnections between Climate, Health and Environment, organized as part of the PNC project “Climate and Co-benefits for Health and Equity”, in collaboration with ISPRA, DEP Lazio, CNR-IFT, and UNIPA.

These training days are designed as a space for discussion and hands-on learning, where participants can explore data, discover multidisciplinary tools for analysis and planning, and propose solutions, together with experts from various institutions available to engage with students.

Topics of Discussion

The Experience Days in Palermo with ISPRA will focus on climate change and its scientific evidence, exploring the connections between climate and health to understand how environmental transformations directly affect people’s well-being. Participants will discuss climate indicators as tools to monitor and interpret climate evolution, and examine adaptation strategies to make cities and territories more resilient. The role of the European Copernicus Programme will also be presented, highlighting the importance of satellite data for observing the Earth and the sea. Other topics include the monitoring of environmental matrices, the tropicalization of the Italian climate and its impacts on ecosystems, agriculture and biodiversity, and sustainable mobility.

Who Can Participate

The initiative is open to university students, PhD candidates and recent graduates in disciplines such as Agricultural, Food and Forestry Sciences, Environmental, Natural or Biological Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Statistics and related fields.

Why Participate

Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their awareness of their professional role in tackling climate change, develop multidisciplinary project design skills and learn to use and apply decision-support tools.

What We Will Do

The programme includes short and engaging lectures with national experts, learning-by-doing workshops to apply knowledge in practice, practical simulations such as mapping, data analysis and environmental assessments, as well as parallel sessions for different academic backgrounds and opportunities for discussion, sharing and networking.

Certificate of Participation

All participants will receive a certificate of participation issued by ISPRA, valid for inclusion in their CV or for academic credit recognition, subject to university approval.

Faculty Panel

The teaching staff includes experts from ISPRA (Marco Faticanti, Viviana Lucia, Emanuela Piervitali, Francesca Lena, Giulio Settanta, Carlo Lo Re, Silvana Campagnuolo), DEP Lazio (Francesca De Donato, Manuela De Sario, Simona Vecchi), CNR-IFT (Velia Malizia, Stefania La Grutta) and UNIPA (Vittorio Farina, Giuseppe Ciraolo, Salvatore Venturella from I.S.S. Rutelli, and Walter Pollina from the Sicilian Regional Government).

The activities are coordinated by the Department for Evaluation, Controls and Sustainability of ISPRA, with Viviana Lucia and Marco Faticanti.
