Extreme weather events and climate change: from forecasting to prevention

The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Messina on the anniversary of the 2009 flood that killed 37 people in Giampilieri, Scaletta, and neighboring communities.
The initiative will provide an opportunity for discussion between local governments, research institutions, and professionals engaged in studying climate change and managing the resulting risks. Specifically, weather forecasts and climate analysis methodologies will be discussed, with an approach that extends from the national framework to the local context, where the memory of the 2009 flood remains a constant reminder.
