The Biennial Transparency Report of Italy includes data on the national inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, the policies and measures adopted for the mitigation of climate change, emission projections, as well as information on adaptation measures and the support provided in terms of climate finance and technology transfer. The Italian BTR and the related reporting tables can be consulted on the official website of the UNFCCC: https://unfccc.int/first-biennial-transparency-reports.

The review process is an essential component of the transparency system outlined by the Paris Agreement. It provides for an in-depth technical assessment of the mitigation commitments adopted by the country, together with the adaptation actions and the support provided to developing countries.

The review was attended by experts from ISPRA, under the guidance of Eng. Valeria Frittelloni, Director of the Department for Environmental Assessment, Controls and Sustainability, together with officials from the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security.

At the end of the session, the team of international experts of the UNFCCC will draft a summary report with observations and recommendations, aimed at improving the quality, transparency and understanding of the information provided by Italy, thus contributing to the strengthening of the multilateral system for monitoring climate action.
