World Congress of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Congress will take place in Abu Dhabi from October 9 to 15. It will be a packed event with events and initiatives: 500 working sessions, 70 interactive exhibitions, over 1,400 IUCN members, and delegations from 140 countries. The conference has three main objectives: to facilitate discussion and collaboration on actionable solutions; to support the achievement of the Global Biodiversity Framework targets and continue conservation efforts towards 2030; and to mobilize key networks and partnerships to promote sustainable change for nature and humanity.

Among the many events and working sessions planned, many will focus on topics of interest to Italy and the Mediterranean. For example, an event on OECM (Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures) in Italy is scheduled for October 11th. The meeting of IUCN members from Western Europe is scheduled for October 12th. On October 13th, the "Mentore Green List" project will be presented, an experimental program to facilitate the participation of protected areas in the Green List of global excellence. Sessions on various aspects of Invasive Alien Species are also planned.
