The Urban Waste Report, now in its twenty-seventh edition, with data updated to 2024 on the production, separate waste collection, management, and import/export flows of urban waste and packaging at the national, regional, and provincial levels, was developed by ISPRA's National Waste and Circular Economy Center, with the contribution of local environmental agencies. It offers a comprehensive and objective framework to support legislators in guiding policies and interventions, monitoring their effectiveness, and introducing any corrective measures.

The XI Edition of the Conference Days (Livorno 26-28 November 2024) achieved a resounding success, with more than 150 participants (with a remarkable involvement of young researchers) and the submission of 25 oral communications and 18 posters.

Study Days 5-6-7 November 2021 and 4-5 November 2022 Rome - Conference Room of Cartiera Latina via Appia Antica The title of this volume highlights that the true and central protagonist of this remarkable publication is WATER—an element that shapes and transforms the landscape and influences human choices tied to its use. At the same time, water is increasingly transformed by human intervention, becoming a driver of complex interdependencies between communities and their surrounding environment.

National trends of energy and economic indicators have been analysed in relation to greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. The analysis of efficiency and decarbonisation indicators at sectoral level was also carried out, with particular attention to sub-sectors of industry. The role of driving factors for GHGs trends has been analyzed, such as economic growth, fossil and renewable energy, transformation efficiency, carbon and energy intensities.

The report examines the dynamics of the main parameters of the national power sector in relation to carbon dioxide emissions. The role of the factors that determine the trend of greenhouse gas emissions was analysed: mix of fossil and renewable sources, transformation efficiency and fuel- specific emission factors. Emission factors for greenhouse gases and other air pollutants due to electricity generation were carried out. Moreover, the emission factors for electricity demand are developed.

The report (in Italian) outlines the Italian emission picture from 1990 to 2023, highlighting current trends and identifying the key factors influencing greenhouse gas emission trends.

Stable isotope analysis has revolutionized environmental sciences, providing a powerful tool for studying marine food webs and resource management. This technique offers crucial insights into species interactions and trophic levels, supporting the implementation of European Union environmental policies, such as the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), with a focus on the achievement of the environmental targets defined by Descriptor 4.

The present publication titled "Towards a Monitoring & Evaluation framework for international environmental cooperation: the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security as a case-study", is the result of an operational agreement between ISPRA and the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (IMEES) signed in 2021.

Environment in Italy: An Overview, 2024 Environmental Data Yearbook is a statistically significant and scientifically relevant report produced by the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA), in collaboration with regional and autonomous provincial Environmental Protection Agencies, as part of the National System for Environmental Protection (SNPA).

These guidelines constitute a technical and methodological reference framework for all wildlife rescue centers and provide updated and uniform guidance on the proper procedures for managing bats during the recovery and rehabilitation of individuals found in distress

The Environmental Education and Training Notebook n.4/2025 entitled “Training Internships in ISPRA: experiences” collects the reports of the curricular internships carried out, during 2022, by students enrolled in a university or school course of study who, at ISPRA, have explored, with real and concrete experiences, environmental issues addressed during the course of study, supported, supervised and coordinated by ISPRA tutors, experts in the various environmental disciplines.

Based on a comparative review of eleven Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) participating in the CIMA (Contrasto agli Inquinamento Marini Accidentali) (Countering Accidental Marine Pollutions) Project, the report provides an in-depth and contemporary analysis on the areas of improvement of MPAs' capacity to support the competent authorities in the national response system to accidental pollution, also in the light of the current legislation on Marine Protected Areas.
