Annual Report on the AIA Installations Geodatabase. Edition 2025
This report is drawn up following the design and implementation work, by the VAL-RTEC-IPPC Section of ISPRA, of a georeferenced database of installations subject to Integrated Environmental Authorizations (AIA) of State and Regional competence, of potential utility and support to various services of the VAL department in environmental assessments and controls, inspections and usable by third-party users.
The creation of the geodatabase, in line with the digitalization process of the Public Administration and on the basis of the indications contained in the European INSPIRE Directive, which promote the achievement of the interoperability of territorial data, was carried out through the use of an open source GIS software and constitutes a digital, operational tool, which allows the geographical location of the various AIA installations present on the national territory and to associate them with data and information of different nature.
The geodatabase is designed as an open and scalable framework, which supports ongoing data integration and updates to facilitate advanced processing and analytical tasks. Unlike conventional databases, GIS software offers enhanced capabilities—not only for visualizing and exploring data, but also for generating thematic maps and performing spatial analyses based on the available geospatial information.
