This report contains processed data of the atmospheric emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust, and of the fuel used in all the large combustion plants, that is those plants with a rated thermal input exceeding 50 MW.
The total emissions for the previous year, of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust, and the total annual amount of energy respectively produced from biomass and from other solid fuels, liquid fuels, natural gas and other gases, referring to the net calorific value, and the characterization of the emissions abatement systems are reported to ISPRA by plants operators, according to Legislative Decree 152/2006, which transposes Directive 2001/80/EC. Dependig on all the information gathered, ISPRA makes a report for the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea.
The Ministry of the Environment, under the same decree, shall transmit to the European Commission every three years, a report concerning the emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust from all large combustion plants, in which must be separately identified the emissions from refineries. This report was transmitted for the first time in December 2007, in relation to the period of three years commencing on 1 January 2004.
This report covers the processed data relative to the years 2007-2009.
