Survey to control the radioactivity in the environment in the zones around the nuclear power plant of Garigliano

In the period from June 2013 to January 2014, in view of the start of main decommissioning activities at the Garigliano nuclear power plant, ISPRA has carried out a radiometric measurement campaign in the surrounding territory for controlling the radioactivity in the environment, in order to have a "zero point" reference and to supervise the environmental radioactivity monitoring activities carried out by the operator SO.G.I.N. pursuant to art. 54 of the Legislative Decree of 17 March 1995, n. 230. The measurement campaign was carried out in cooperation with the regional environmental agencies (ARPA) of Lazio and Campania. The concentrations of radioactivity found were falling in the variability of values at regional and national scale without identifying any situation of radiological concern.
