First SNPA National Conference. Third preparatory event. The National System and services to citizens
The third and last preparatory event of the First SNPA Conference, aim to define tothe approach to the national event of next February, carrying out its work in a city, Palermo, that for the year 2018 was considered the Italian capital of culture, included also environmental culture. That means : protection, prevention and management of the territory. A meeting,  5 and 6 December, which sees the citizens as protagonists, represented by associations, committees, civil society, journalists. Three round tables will be dedicated to the speakers: LEPTA, Comunication, Citizen Science. The Palermo appointment wants to launch the challenge of bringing citizens closer to the institutions, especially in the environmental field.

General states of green public
21-22 november Since 2013 Italy has a specific law on green in the city, n. 10/2013, entitled "Rules for the development of urban green spaces", which establishes, at the Ministry of the Environment, the Committee for the development of public green, that is technically supported by  ISPRA. In order to stimulate discussion and debate, but also active policies on the territory, on the occasion of the National Day of Trees on 21 November, will be also organized the General States of Public Green scheduled between Naples (21 morning) , Rome (21 afternoon), Padova (22 morning) and Venice (22 afternoon) that represent a moment of comparision between the technical and institutional world, to converge towards a greater integration of green infrastructures in territorial urban planning and nature-based solutions for more resilient cities. President of ISPRA, Stefano Laporta, will take part in the event of 21 november in Rome "Masts and linear infrastructures".

Launch video of the Life Lagoon Refresh project
The LIFE LAGOON REFRESH project foresees the diversion of a freshwater flow from the Sile river into the lagoon, necessary for recreation of the typical salt gradient of buffer areas between lagoon and mainland, for restoration of the reedbed habitat, and for improvement of the lagoon environment and its biodiversity. The project LIFE Lagoon ReFresh (Life16 NAT/IT/000663) is funded by European Union’s LIFE (2014-2020) financial instrument and contributes to the environmental recovery of a Nature 2000 site (SCI IT3250031 – Northern Venice Lagoon). ISPRA (Italian National Institutefor Environmental Protection and Research) is the Partner Leader, whilst the Environmental Direction of Veneto Region, the University of Venice, the Interregional Superintendency for Public Works in Veneto – Trentino Alto Adige – Friuli Venezia Giulia (OOPP), and IPROS Ingegneria Ambientale Srl. are the Association Partners. The project started on September 2017 and it lasts for 5 years.

Landslides and floods in Italy: hazard and risk indicators – 2018 Edition
The 2018 edition of the Report, the second dedicated to this topic, provides the updated overview on landslide and flood hazard throughout the country and presents the risk indicators related to population, families, buildings, industries and services, and cultural heritage. The Report updates the national maps of the landslide hazard of the River Basin Plans - PAI and of the hydraulic hazard according to the Scenarios of Legislative Decree 49/2010 (implementation of the 2007/60/EC Floods Directive), realized by ISPRA through the harmonization and the mosaic of the hazard zones mapped by the District Basin Authorities.

Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October, with the Terminillo stage, it restart the cycling tour around Lazio region. On 6 October, with two routes at the same time: a spectacular and challenging 40 km itinerary between the Reatini Mountains, which also includes stretches of land in the woods; or 22 km on asphalt from the Sella di Leonessa to the Val Leonina, a simpler ride, but equally interesting for nature and landscapes. On 7 October , however, 15 km of scenic route and quite challenging in Pian de Valli, at the foot of Terminillo; the second route is suitable for everyone and from Pian de Valli leads to Cittaducale, for 25 km downhill.

Control of the cinipid Dryocosmus kuriphilus (Chinese wasp) in Castanea sativa
Italy is the word’s fourth producer of chestnuts and first in Europe, with about 800,000 hectares of chestnut woods, including 150,000 orchards. The chestnut cinipid, Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu, a parasitic hymenoptera, is the agent of a real phytosanitary emergency. Originally from China, the cinipid was first reported in Europe in 2002 and since then has spread to almost all regions of Italy.

INDICIT Spot Project
The European project INDICT  uses Caretta caretta sea turtles as indicators of the impact of plastics on Mediterranean animals. The Carette caretta are widely spread in various habitats and have the characteristic of ingesting marine litter. Also ISPRA, INDICIT project includes international partners from Greece, Spain, the Canary Islands, the Azores, France, Tunisia and Turkey.

Biodiversity World Day
Climate change, invasive alien species and habitat destruction: all numbers on biodiversity and threats to its conservation The current rate of animal and plant extinction species is 100 to 1,000 times higher than that recorded in pre-human times. Scientists believe that our world facing the sixth mass extinction, due to anthropic causes, even higher than the one that marked the dinosaurs extinction, 65 million years ago. From 1500 to date, there are 765 extinct documented species, including 79 mammals, 145 birds, 36 amphibians. Currently the extinctions are proceeding at the rate of between 10 and 690 species per week.
