These guidelines constitute a technical and methodological reference framework for all wildlife rescue centers and provide updated and uniform guidance on the proper procedures for managing bats during the recovery and rehabilitation of individuals found in distress
The document comprises a general introductory section, admission criteria, husbandry methodologies, a medical reference guide, examples of surgical interventions, and protocols for the management of the most common pathologies, as well as criteria for evaluating fitness for release into the wild and release procedures. A specific section is also dedicated to the management of exotic species
