From March 18 to 20, Italy will host at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation MAECI, with the support of DG Environment of the European Commission, the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group on the follow-up of Rio + 20 of the UNCCD.
This IWG was established by the COP 11 of the UNCCD held in Windhoek (Namibia, September 2013) with the target to produce a shared definition of the Land Degradation Neutrality concept and the possible options for its achievement and the implications for the Convention.
Components of the IWG for the EU component in the WEOG group are Nicholas Hanley, European Commission, and Anna Luise, ISPRA.
On the occasion of the presence in Rome of Monique Barbut, Executive Secretary of the UNCCD, the DGDC of MAECI has organized a closed meeting with M.me Barbut at the Foreign Ministry on "Sustainable Management of Land: reduce global threats, protect local resources " , March 18 from 15.00 to 16.30. Given the limited capacity of the room, the presence must be confirmed within Saturday, March 14 with an email to: dgcs.ambiente@esteri.it
