OEWG 3.2: Third session of UNEP working group on sound management of chemicals and waste and prevention of pollution in Uruguay
The initiative to establish a Science-Policy Panel (SPP), dedicated to the sound management of chemicals and waste and the prevention of pollution, was launched on the basis of UNEA (United Nations Environment Assembly) resolution 5/8, adopted on 2 March 2022. This resolution established the need to establish an intergovernmental group to further contribute to the sustainable management of chemicals and waste and to prevent pollution globally.

The second part of the third session is hosted by the Government of Uruguay at the Punta del Este Convention and Exhibition Center, Uruguay, from 15 to 18 June 2025; it is preceded by informal and regional consultations on 14 June 2025.
Simone Marzeddu, member of the Dangerous Substances Section (DG-TEC), participates in the session for ISPRA, designated as a member of the Italian delegation together with representatives of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) and the National Research Council (CNR)
