Marine litter in the Adriatic Sea: DeFishGear meets Goletta Verde

In the occasion of the arrival in Venice of Goletta Verde ship of Legambiente, researchers from the European project DeFishGear organized an open meeting between Legambiente, the Ca' Foscari University and the National Institute for  Environmental Protection and Research (Ispra) of Chioggia, which was held of Friday, 8 August at 11.00, at the Aula Morelli Malcanton Marcorà. It will address the solid marine debris (marine litter), a problem for the ecosystems with the environmental, economic and cultural consequences that extend well beyond the regions where they are produced.
Urgent coordinated and multidisciplinary actions are needed, such as those proposed by DeFishGear, a cross-border project that involves all the countries bordering this the Adriatic basin, aimed at identifying a common strategy to reduce the environmental impact of marine debris and to provide support to the regional initiatives to be implemented in the Mediterranean Sea.
