The symposium, organized every two years by the CNR-IBE in collaboration with SISEF, represents the leading meeting point for researchers and experts engaged in the study and conservation of Mediterranean marine and coastal ecosystems.
During the event, the Institute presented the study entitled “Measuring to Manage: the Compactness of Posidonia oceanica Banquettes as an Indicator for Sustainable Coastal Strategies,” introducing an innovative and replicable method for measuring the resistance and compactness of Posidonia deposits. The research provides local authorities with a practical tool for classifying these accumulations and using them as natural defenses against coastal erosion, combining environmental protection with the enhancement of seaside tourism.
