Throughout the week, staff from the Marine Protected Areas of Punta Campanella, Isola di Ventotene and Santo Stefano, Santa Maria di Castellabate, Costa degli Infreschi e della Masseta, Baia, Gaiola, Secche di Tor Paterno, and Regno di Nettuno gathered in Ischia to learn how to assemble, operate, and maintain a remotely operated underwater vehicle, as well as how to use it to carry out environmental surveys.
In December, a similar course had already been held in Capo Milazzo for the Sicilian Marine Protected Areas, and further sessions are scheduled in the coming weeks in Le Cinque Terre, Capo Testa, and Torre Guaceto.
On this occasion, staff from the eight Marine Protected Areas meeting in Ischia also carried out joint exercises on the use of drones and underwater photogrammetry.
