The 2019 edition of the Environmental Damage Report in Italy represents the first ISPRA report on the State's action on the prevention and repair of environmental damage. With Law 132 -2016, the National System for Environmental Protection  was established, a coordinated system by ISPRA which has been given the task of supporting, on a technical level, the competent authority in environmental damage actions. The report therefore, is based on the reconstruction of the cases of proven damage in the years 2017 and 2018 and involved interested public and private subjects: administrations competent in environmental matters, operators of economic / productive activities, research bodies, insurance companies, associations of environmental protection and citizens, stakeholders

Rocky bottoms: the highest concentrations in the Ligurian Sea, in the Gulf of Naples and in Sicily. In fishermen's nets, more waste than fish: 194 tons collected in the Adriatic in 6 years

Currently more than 70% of the marine ones are deposited in the Italian seabed and 77% is plastic. The sea of ​​Sicily, with 786 objects found and a total weight of more than 670 kg, confirms its position among the largest submarine landfills in the country, followed by Sardegna with 403 objects in the totality of the 99 coves and a total weight of 86.55 kg. The situation is different from area to area and according to the monitored areas: in the rocky bottoms, from 20 to 500 m of depth, the highest concentrations of waste on the bottom are found in the Ligurian Sea (1500 objects per hectare), in the Gulf of Napoli (1200 objects per hectare) and along the Sicilian coasts (900 objects per hectare).

The poaching act, which is criminally very serious and relevant, puts at risk the outcome of an international project on species conservation, which involves the European Commission, Sardinia Region, ISPRA, Forestas, Regional Forestry Corps, GREFA Spain, Regional Park of Tepilora. The results of the investigative activities in progress are awaited. The eagle found dead near the lake of Monte Pranu in the Sulcis was called Tepilora. She was one of the pioneers of the European project "Aquila a-Life": it came from the captive breeding center of Vandèe in France and was released, together with four others, in August 2018 within the Tepilora Regional Park.

The Bookleet carried out by ISPRA and ARPA Emilia-Romagna and with the contribution of many local experts, is part of a book necklace dedicated to the study of Italian fruit no longer cultivated and in danger of extinction, with the hope that they will be produced again and enjoy as before. With this iniziative ISPRA contributes to the conservation of an important genetic and cultural resource, handed down for centuries by local farmers, and fundamental to face the challanges of environmental changes.
