The late Quaternary succession in northern Sardinia: paleogeographic and paleoclimatic implications

7770 gft logo vol 2 2 2.jpg

Field trip is addressed to the analysis of the Late Quaternary deposits cropping out along the Alghero and Argentiera coast, in the Sassari province of NW Sardinia.
Recent studies have allowed us to group these Quaternary deposits in 4 unconformity bounded units (U1, U2, U3, U4) respectively referred to the Oxygen Isotopic Stages 7, 6, 5, and 4. The succession will be analyzed on a sequence stratigraphic context and all sedimentological aspects emphasised in order to make a paleogeographic reconstruction of this Centre Mediterranean area during the last 200.000 years.
