European Researchers’ Night 2026

Once again this year, ISPRA is taking part in the European Researchers’ Night, together with other public research institutions and universities.

The initiative, which will take place across Europe on 25 and 26 September, will provide an opportunity to bring citizens closer to the world of scientific research and to discover the activities and results of public research on today’s most relevant issues.

Rome will become the capital of science with the NET Village. From 6:30 p.m., at the Città dell’Altra Economia in the Testaccio district, visitors will have the opportunity to meet researchers, talk with them, and take part in interactive workshops and talks. It will be an opportunity to discover, in an informal and engaging way, the work that thousands of scientists carry out every day for the benefit and progress of society as a whole.

Europe honors IdroGEO: the ISPRA platform that is evolving and engaging with citizens

Special recognition at the European Public Sector Award 2025–2026 for the national platform on hydrogeological instability

IdroGEO—ISPRA’s national platform for monitoring hydrogeological instability—was honored this afternoon at the European Public Sector Award (EPSA) 2025–2026. Thanks in part to Artificial Intelligence, the platform now engages directly with citizens and provides immediate access to information about the territory. The award recognizes the platform’s ongoing updates, the development of new features, and its ability to deliver innovative, accessible, and sustainable digital public services over time.

Public, free, open, and interoperable, IdroGEO makes data accessible at any time, including via smartphone. It offers direct access to scientific and technical information, helping to improve understanding of territorial risks and fostering a stronger culture of prevention.

Citizen Science at the Aniene Valley Nature Reserve

As part of the 2026 edition of Urban Nature, an initiative promoted by WWF to raise awareness of the importance, value and care of nature in urban areas, the National Biodiversity Network of ISPRA, in collaboration with the Insieme per l’Aniene Association, is organizing a meeting between experts and citizens on 3 October at the Aniene Valley Nature Reserve.

The initiative includes an approximately three-hour walk to discover the flora and fauna of the protected area, with particular attention to the characteristics of its ecosystems, including the riparian vegetation along the course of the Aniene River
