The Director General of ISPRA Maria Siclari and the President of the National Observatory for the Protection of the Sea (ONTM APS) Roberto Minerdo have signed a Convention, lasting two years, with the aim of promoting technological research and raising awareness on theme of the defense of coasts, ecosystems and marine biodiversity, to enhance the Italian natural heritage and for the development of socioeconomic models in the New Blue Economy.

In particular, ISPRA as implementing body and within the PNRR MER - Marine Ecosystem Restoration Project, deals with the restoration and protection of the seabed and marine habitats, the integral mapping of the Italian coast, coastal habitats and deep habitats present in the seamounts of Italian marine waters, the strengthening of the observation networks of fixed monitoring stations, all this through the implementation of 37 overall interventions.

The Observatory is committed to disseminating, raising awareness and studying issues relating to New Blue Economy sectors, with particular reference to the areas of energy production (offshore wind and photovoltaic, geothermal energy...) and the development of coastal and cruise tourism and Green Defense for the implementation of the Nature Restoration Law in the community context.

ISPRA meets decision makers and stakeholders

The conference "The IdroGEO national platform on hydrogeological instability: data and services for the PA and  companies - ISPRA meets decision makers and stakeholders", organized as part of the Open Gov Week, will be held on 30 May.
ISPRA will present the balance sheet on data and services provided by the national IdroGEO platform, four years after its launch in May 2020.
The IdroGEO Platform is an open data, open source and multilingual web application that allows you to view, query, download and share maps and data on hydrogeological instability in Italy.

Methodologies, information and environmental indicators

The event will be an opportunity for an analysis of the characteristics of the new European legislative framework on sustainable finance, within which tools have been introduced to reorient private sector investments towards sustainable activities.

The implementation of the legislation will lead to an expansion of the subjects involved in sustainability reporting which will go from the current 11,700 to around 50,000 companies at a European level and from around 200 companies to more than 4,000 at an Italian level.

During the event ISPRA will present a study on 'Environmental information for sustainable finance' in which it intends to provide useful and supportive elements to businesses, investors and banks, to correctly understand the contents of the information underlying environmental reporting and the ways to generate some of this information required by the new standards.

The event will also be a useful opportunity to stimulate discussion between institutional representatives, those from the business world and the banking/financial sector.
