88° Congresso Nazionale della Società Geologica

L’ 88° Congresso della Società Geologica Italiana si terrà a Napoli, dal 7 al 9 settembre 2016.

Il Congresso sarà articolato in tre giorni di sessioni scientifiche sui principali temi delle Geoscienze, conferenze plenarie di ricercatori di rilievo internazionale ed eventi speciali (forum e tavole rotonde) su grandi temi di attualità ed interesse pubblico. Ampi spazi espositivi consentiranno ad enti di ricerca ed aziende di promuovere le loro attività ed interagire con i partecipanti al Congresso.

Il Congresso sarà l’occasione per i protagonisti della comunità scientifica italiana per condividere i risultati delle più recenti ricerche, per confrontarsi sul futuro delle Geoscienze e per potenziare le interazioni con le aziende, con i professionisti, con il mondo della Scuola e con gli operatori della pubblica amministrazione. Sarà anche l’occasione per riflettere su nuove strategie per il trasferimento delle conoscenze scientifiche dalla comunità accademica alla società civile ed ai “decision makers” e sul ruolo-chiave che le Geoscienze sono chiamate a sostenere nel prossimo decennio per la realizzazione degli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile fissati dalla comunità internazionale.

Il Congresso intende dedicare particolare attenzione ai giovani ricercatori, organizzando sessioni speciali ed eventi volti a promuovere la loro attività ed a facilitare la creazione di reti di collaborazione.

Sessione P45 - Three centuries of Geology in Italy

Starting from the main topic of the Congress, "Learning from the past, exploring the future", we propose the session "Three centuries of geology in Italy " in order to stimulate a reflection on the identity of the geological sciences, in terms of knowledge of the territory, of its resources and evolution. The purpose of the session is to rediscover and highlight the role and the scientific insights of Italian geologists, working long time before the unification of the country and devoting particular attention to the knowledge of the territory. Their pioneering approach to the basic study and to geological dynamics has often opened debates and proposals for the interpretation and prediction of natural phenomena, as well as the development of accurate and detailed cartographic processing and geological issues. The main subject of the session is geological mapping, from its beginnings, since mid '700, up to present day. The historical cartography is a basic element to reconstruct the evolution of geosciences, as well as the main link between earth sciences and scientific culture. We also want to emphasize the role played by our predecessors in the analysis of the territory, particularly in urban areas, and how society and institutions have not considered and valorized the achieved knowledge to develop a reasoned land use planning and policies for natural risks prevention and mitigation.

Sessione P43 - Cultural Heritage in marine and subaerial environment

Keynote speaker: Cristina Sabbioni (CNR-ISAC Bologna)

The session will be devoted both to a) technological innovation for the support of promotion, fruition and protection of cultural heritage (BBCC) and b) contribution of archaeometry and geoarchaeology. The session will encourage discussions on technological innovation allowing researchers to disseminate and discuss technologies of intervention and management in areas of high archaeological, cultural and landscaping value, both in subaerial and marine environments. Contributions that show a strong multidisciplinary approach will be encouraged.
